About this grant
This grant will support the Austin Interfaith Sponsoring Committee’s study on education organizing work which will focus on developing leaders, including parents, teachers and principals; continuing to work with national experts on the provision of Learning Academies for pastors, parents, teachers and community leaders; and developing the "teacher pipeline" project to help long-term school employees become certified teachers. In addition to supporting the group’s community-driven education reform efforts, this grant will enable the organization to participate in the Foundation’s study to explore the role of education organizing in education reform efforts in low-performing districts and schools.Austin Interfaith, founded in 1985 and affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation, works to develop leaders and build power to address issues identified by the community.
