About this grant
This grant provides continued general purpose support to GuideStar, a leading source of information about nonprofit organizations in the United States. The grantee maintains 3.5 billion pieces of data on 2.6 million organizations and has 9 million individual users of its website per year. Their data services provide greater transparency for the nonprofit sector, encourage charitable giving by building public interest and trust, and enable individuals and institutions involved with charitable activities and organizations to make better decisions. Currently, 153,000 nonprofits share data directly to the grantee’s database, and it has 232 data distribution partners. During the current grant period, the grantee will continue to implement its GuideStar 2020 strategic plan, calling for better and broader data collection, data distribution, and data innovation.
