Informing State Legislatures: Statewide Afterschool Policy

About this grant

This grant will continue support to the National Conference of State Legislatures in its work to educate state legislators about the value of afterschool and to build state capacity to implement high quality afterschool and summer learning opportunities. Specifically, the grantee will: 1) lift up afterschool and summer learning as a mechanism to close the achievement and opportunity gaps; 2) connect afterschool and summer learning to college and career readiness and dropout prevention; 3) engage legislators on the topic of afterschool and summer learning; 4) expand communication efforts with legislators, legislative staff, and the statewide afterschool networks; and 5) continue to support the statewide afterschool networks as part of the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative with an increased focus on effective data sharing practices.
