About this grant
The Ikhala Trust makes small grants to community-based organizations in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. It also supports organizations that respond to the daily struggles of poor communities by providing training on relevant topics. Over the past two years, the grantee made small grants and promoted the asset-based community development approach to development. It also provided capacity building training to new community-based organizations and those that needed certain skills to become functional and accountable. This grant will assist the grantee to continue supporting community development by making small grants, conducting action research to assess the impact of its work, and providing training on the asset-based community development approach. It will also pilot a monitoring and evaluation process with its grantees and produce case studies and visual material that can be used to make the case for support from local businesses.
