About this grant
The program goal is to expand and improve the community school model in Ukraine. To this end, Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation will establish regional training centers, train trainers, and introduce courses on community schools into teacher training institutes. The grantee will also promote social entrepreneurship among students, fostering innovative business education programs linked to community development goals; promote quality standards in the implementation of community school programs; support the development and growth of student councils within schools; and facilitate the development of an informal network of community schools at the regional, national, and international levels. By the end of the grant period, the number of community schools across all regions of Ukraine is forecast to reach almost 200. This project builds on successful efforts to introduce the community school model to over 100 schools in the past three years. The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation was created as an independent foundation in 1999 with the aim of facilitating educational development and innovative educational initiatives in Ukraine.
