About this grant
This grant will support the Flint Healthcare Employment Opportunities Program managed by the Greater Flint Health Coalition. The goal of the program is to create sustainable employment opportunities and promote career advancement for area residents within the healthcare sector. Participants receive industry-focused life skills and career-readiness training, occupational instruction, case management, and supportive services, as well as job development assistance. The grantee convenes healthcare sector employers to assess and implement solutions to meet the employment needs of the sector. This grant will help train and place approximately 50 people into entry-level healthcare careers and support training for approximately 10 people to advance to middle-skill healthcare careers. Preparing area residents for good-paying jobs in the medical field will help them and the community recover from the effects of the water crisis.
