About this grant
The Mott Foundation Leadership Academy was created in 2001 to develop teamwork and leadership skills for youth that will help them succeed in school, in the workplace and in personal relationships. Operated in tandem with the Summer Youth Program, which provides workforce preparation training and employment for youth ages 14-18 in Flint and Genesee County, the leadership academy serves approximately 300 young people, most of whom live in the city of Flint and come from economically disadvantaged households. This grant will enable the Genesee Chamber Foundation to provide ongoing support for this youth development activity and better understand workforce preparation issues confronting schools and young people.
