About this grant
Ecoa-Ecology and Action is a respected nongovernmental organization working to strengthen social and environmental standards of public investment in energy and infrastructure in South America. Over the previous project period, the grantee was instrumental in strengthening social and environmental safeguards at key development finance organizations and achieved a suspension of 144 hydroelectric projects slated for the world’s largest wetlands, the Pantanal, until a strategic environmental assessment of impacts is completed in 2020. This grant renewal will enable the grantee to continue its work monitoring investments in energy and infrastructure, and compliance with environmental and social standards by key development financiers in South America.
