About this grant
The Community Chest of the Western Cape was established in 1928 to support community-based organizations working in the Western Cape province. It makes grants, provides training, and encourages dialogue on issues affecting civil society in South Africa. The Capacity Building Program provides training on a variety of topics including financial management, governance, and fundraising. Past support enabled the grantee to train leaders of nonprofits, host dialogues to encourage cross learning among nonprofits, and establish partnerships with other institutions to extend the reach of the training. This grant will enable the grantee to continue to provide training to improve the capacity of community-based organizations, deepen partnerships with local government, ensure that more organizations can access the training, and host conversations that keep nonprofits knowledgeable about the latest developments in the country.
