About this grant
Founded in 1928 as an art school and incorporated in 1930, the Flint Institute of Arts operates in the DeWaters Art Center building on the Flint Cultural Center campus. Following a major building renovation and expansion completed in 2006, added galleries, additional studio space for the art school, and improved visitor amenities and public areas have drawn new audiences to the art institute. Around 150,000 students and adults visit the museum, participate in education programs, and attend art classes annually. This grant will provide operating support to enable the art institute to present new exhibits that inspire and stimulate patrons, provide educational programming to area students, offer art classes to people of all ages, and maintain its facilities.
