About this grant
The establishment of the Flint Institute of Music dates back to 1917 and offers the community a wide array of music, dance, and theater experiences through the Flint School of Performing Arts, Flint Symphony Orchestra, and Flint Youth Theatre. Annually, more than 250,000 children and adults attend concerts and plays, receive instruction, or participate in other programming, both on campus and through outreach activities. In addition to serving Flint and Genesee County residents, people from throughout mid-Michigan take advantage of its highquality programming and world-class performances. This grant will support ongoing operations to ensure people of all ages and income levels can experience live music, dance, and theater performances, as well as receive instruction from experienced teachers in these same disciplines.
