About this grant
The University of Michigan-Flint’s Center for Service Learning and School Partnerships works to connect faculty, staff and students with community-based projects that have a significant impact on the development of campus and community leadership, civic engagement, teacher professional development and community collaborations. This grant will enable the center to continue building a stronger relationship between the university and the Greater Flint community in which it operates. To date, the center has initiated more than 25 service-learning courses; a yearly community orientation for new faculty; and a competitive scholar program that awards honorary cords to graduating students who have volunteered more than 300 hours of community service and stipends to those who have given more than 140 hours of their time during a single semester.
