About this grant
Advances in communication and information technology over the past several years have dramatically transformed the way organizations do business. Due to a lack of knowledge concerning acquisition and management of appropriate technology, much of the nonprofit sector has failed to take advantage of opportunities for increased efficiency and organizational effectiveness. With this grant, NetCorps will provide technology assessment, planning and implementation services to 20 southeastern environmental groups focused on freshwater ecosystem conservation and provide ongoing support to groups that have already worked through the technology assessment process.During the past two years, NetCorps worked with 10 southeastern organizations focused on freshwater conservation to develop comprehensive technology plans that reflect and support organizational missions, goals and objectives. Efforts included the installation of new computer systems and a server upgrade for the Western North Carolina Alliance; a server upgrade and reconfiguration and a new Web site for the Catawba River Foundation; and an upgrade of all computer systems and the launch of a new Web site for the Coosa River Basin Initiative.
