About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen volunteerism in Romania. During the grant period, Pro Vobis Volunteer Center will work with governmental agencies and the media to increase the visibility of volunteerism, support public institutions to involve volunteers effectively, strengthen the network of volunteer centers in Romania, and increase its own institutional capacity and sustainability. In the past two years, the center coordinated an annual national volunteer week attracting over 6,000 participants each year; organized conferences and meetings to discuss the development of volunteerism in Romania; provided training to people and institutions interested in volunteerism; and established a representative office in the capital of Bucharest to strengthen its advocacy work. Based in Cluj-Napoca, the center has been promoting and developing volunteerism as a viable resource for solving community problems in Romania since 1992.
