About this grant
This grant will enable the Aspen Institute to update and disseminate its seminal publication, "Jobs for the Urban Poor," that defined sectoral employment development. Sectoral workforce development has been the vanguard among workforce development programs in terms of developing positive working relationships with employers and using those relationships for the benefit of low-income workers. The purpose of updating the publication is to raise the profile of the sectoral workforce development field with public and private sector funding audiences. Two new flagship publications will describe the scope of the field, the range of strategies and practice, key highlights of accomplishments, targeted examples illustrating the range of current practice, and important challenges to the strategy.
