About this grant
The program goal is to promote public participation in decisionmaking and community development through targeted grantmaking and support to community-based action. The Mozaik Foundation is a national-level, Bosnian foundation established in 2000 and based in Sarajevo. In 2015-2016, the grantee will implement a revised, far-reaching strategy focused on enabling young, innovative social entrepreneurs to play a bigger role in Bosnia’s social and economic transformation. Building on its successful implementation of the YouthBank model — an approach to engaging young people in grantmaking and community action — over the next two years, the grantee will use grantmaking, technical assistance, research, and advocacy to identify young community leaders and develop their potential. Additionally, the grantee will build its endowment through local and international fundraising initiatives. In 2013-2014, the grantee supported 760 community initiatives with small grants totaling approximately $1 million, and these initiatives leveraged significant financial and in-kind contributions locally.
