About this grant
The program goal is to engage young people in political processes and civic activism in order to promote and strengthen the rule of law, accountability, and transitional justice in Serbia and the Western Balkan region. Through a variety of activities, Youth Initiative for Human Rights will focus on building the capacity of young people to address these issues and on increasing dialogue among young people from all sides of the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Over the past two years, the grantee operated training programs on human rights and democratic values for young people, published an annual report on the implementation of key laws, launched a human rights Web portal, and organized youth exchanges for Albanians and Serbs. On the regional level, the grantee organized its annual Days of Sarajevo event in Belgrade, which increases connections between young people in these two cities, and participated in the regional coalition to establish a victims’ commission for the former Yugoslavia. The grantee is based in Serbia and has partner organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, and Montenegro.
