About this grant
This grant will enable the Institute for Wisconsin’s Future to sponsor the Wisconsin Alliance for Excellent Schools, a state-based coalition that advocates for adequate school funding. The alliance – currently made up of 90 organizations – recently completed a funding adequacy report that describes how a state should align resources with academic achievement goals; determine the level of resources needed so that all children have a chance to succeed; and generate and allocate the needed revenue.Multiyear funding will support the alliance’s efforts to build the statewide network in Wisconsin; use that work as a model for other Midwestern states; and provide technical assistance to parent and community groups in the Midwest that are working on education finance. The Institute for Wisconsin’s Future is a state public policy research and education center created in 1994 by a group of concerned citizens, labor organizations, academics, professionals, religious leaders and advocacy groups in Wisconsin to inform state residents about the issues and policies that affect their lives, particularly issues related to public education.
