About this grant

The program goal is to promote public participation in government decisionmaking in Ukraine. The grantee will monitor and raise public awareness about the performance of Ukrainian parliamentarians and local governments. It will work to strengthen the capacity of local analytical centers to evaluate government performance. Results of this oversight will be widely and regularly distributed, and a specialized information service will be developed to circulate additional information of broader social interest. The grantee has successfully carried out comprehensive accountability monitoring of Ukrainian political parties and representatives, produced thousands of publicly accessible evaluation reports, and contributed to greater public understanding of the operations of the country’s democratic institutions. Since 2001, the Open Society Foundation – Ukraine has promoted participatory democracy and open society in Ukraine by actively engaging voters and civic organizations at all stages of the political process.
