About this grant

This grant increase continues to support the Collaborative Communications Group in creating Web-based professional development resources for afterschool staff by also designing a complementary printed publication. The development of these resources is being guided by a national advisory group and via a research process that includes focus groups, peer reviews, and a survey of the afterschool field. The online resource and publication will include recommended core competencies for the afterschool profession, as well as staff supports and guidelines for identifying and accessing appropriate staff development. These tools will better help afterschool staff and directors understand and access appropriate professional development that will lead to higher quality afterschool experiences for program participants, and move toward a comprehensive professional development system for afterschool staff and directors.
