About this grant
This renewal grant to Sobrevivencia, a Paraguayan nongovernmental organization, will support its continued efforts to research the potential impacts of large-scale infrastructure development in the region. Sobrevivencia will focus its work on the proposed infrastructure projects being funded through the Initiative for Regional Infrastructure Integration of South America in critical ecosystems in Paraguay and adjacent countries of Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina. It will provide technical assistance to communities and grassroots organizations working to address the impacts of such large infrastructure projects; conduct creative community and public education activities; develop capacity in organizations working for natural resource conservation and indigenous rights throughout the Southern Cone; and participate in, and provide leadership for, international nongovernmental organization networks to reform international financial institutions. Sobrevivencia was founded in 1986 to conduct research and public education on conservation and environmental issues in Paraguay and the Southern Cone region of South America.
