About this grant
This grant increase will enable ROCA, a community-based organization in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to extend its workforce development project on vulnerable youth. ROCA’s newly piloted workforce development effort is aimed at providing training and transitional employment in the hospitality industry to high risk youth. Through the project, ROCA has assisted more than 40 high risk youth — surpassing the initial target of 20-30 young people — in acquiring the needed skills for entry and/or career advancement in the hospitality industry. Due to its success in providing these quality training and employment experiences, ROCA seeks to extend the project. With this grant increase, ROCA will strengthen its workforce and transitional employment model and provide additional opportunities to more youth in its targeted communities. Additional grant funds will also be used to increase ROCA’s capacity in integrating and implementing high quality workforce development services for vulnerable youth.
