About this grant

The community college system has the potential to help low-income working adults with skill deficits, but the system has historically been inaccessible to them and/or poorly equipped to meet their needs. The purpose of this renewal grant to Aspen Institute is to design and implement a demonstration to test strategies and explore opportunities and barriers related to collaboration between community colleges and community-based organizations in helping low-income workers make substantial improvements in their skills and earning capacity. The findings from the demonstration will be synthesized in a publication that will lay out the key elements of how these partnerships promote career advancement among low-income populations.
