About this grant
While known primarily for the Crim Festival of Races held in August of each year, the Crim Fitness Foundation has developed into an organization promoting year-round health and physical fitness. The organization seeks to expand the reach of its programs for youth and adults, and to increase its visibility for sponsors, volunteers and participants. This grant will enable the Crim Fitness Foundation to purchase a portion of the Genesee County Land Bank building to serve as its headquarters. The space will also serve as a meeting place for training program participants, for a new retail operation selling running and fitness-related products, and for a Crim Hall of Fame and Museum. The Crim Fitness Foundation was established in 2005 to support programs and activities that foster healthy lifestyle choices and to encourage community participation. The annual event draws more than 14,000 participants to downtown Flint on race day.
