About this grant

In 2002, the Michigan office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) began working closely with the Genesee County Treasurer to conduct an assessment of the potential for housing development in Genesee County. This partnership has resulted in the creation of a satellite LISC office serving Flint and Genesee County. Known as Flint LISC, this office brings resources and expertise to the community to expand housing programs and assist local nonprofit organizations and community development corporations. With a focus on affordable housing and urban redevelopment, this grant will enable Flint LISC to provide local organizations with technical assistance as well as access to loans and grants. During the next year, the organization will continue to focus its efforts on assisting the Genesee County Land Bank Authority, implementing the Sasaki River District redevelopment strategy, and assisting neighborhood and community groups in Flint.
