About this grant
Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement is a community organizing group with a 35-year history and a mission to work with Iowans of all ethnic backgrounds, particularly low- and moderate-income families, to provide people with the training and skills to be effective spokespersons for their own issues and concerns. The grantee is successfully building an inter-racial, inter-ethnic, urban-rural organization and sharing the experience in training sessions with other community organizing groups around the country. This project will support the organization’s training efforts, as well as its work to develop new chapters in selected regions of the state and continue building the relationships between members from urban and rural communities. The organization works closely with counterparts in Kansas, the Center for Community Change, and the Western Organization of Resource Councils.
