About this grant

The program goal is to build the capacity of an important, London-wide community foundation to raise funds from wealthy individuals and the business community in the United Kingdom. Program accomplishments to date include securing almost 500,000 Great Britain Pounds in seven new private funds; making significant inroads into the professional advisor field in London; and developing a district fund model. Additionally, Capital Community Foundation was successful in its bid to receive a 2.1 million GBP challenge grant from the government. In 2009-2011, the grantee will hire an assistant director for development to enhance its ongoing fund development activities and ensure that it meets the government’s challenge grant. The grantee’s mission is to improve the communities of London by supporting peoples’ ideas and initiatives. The foundation was created in 1995 as the South East London Community Foundation. In 2005, the foundation changed its name and its area of benefit to the whole of London.
