About this grant
This grant will enable the NGO School to improve the capacity of Russian nonprofits to attract supporters and collect private donations. The NGO School will focus on three pilot regions – Moscow, Krasnodar and Nizhni Novgorod – and partner with leading non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the latter two regions to implement the program. Activities will include researching existing techniques of soliciting donations from individuals and developing and testing new methods and approaches; clarifying and classifying all relevant legal aspects and issues; developing and implementing demonstration projects; providing training and coaching opportunities to project participants; and creating opportunities for information and experience exchange among a wide array of Russian nonprofit organizations through meetings of a Fundraisers’ Club and Web-based resources. The NGO School grew out of the work of the Charities Aid Foundation representative office in Russia, which was established in 1993 with the goal of supporting the development of civil society, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector in Russia. Today, its main goals are to provide information and legal support for NGOs, support the professional growth of the nonprofit sector, and develop relationships between NGOs and the commercial, governmental and nonprofit sectors in Russia.
