About this grant

As part of the national network, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint opened in 1998 in the Sylvester Broome Center and relocated in 2004 to the site of the former Sobey Elementary School. The grantee’s purpose is to provide a safe space to learn and grow for young people of all backgrounds, with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances. Another goal is to help these youth develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and community leaders. The aim of this grant is to support the growth of the club’s Summer Fun Program through the provision of extra staffing in order to pilot morning programs and to increase the number of youth who can be served on a daily basis.
