About this grant
The Floyd McCree Theatre is a Flint-based performing arts organization whose mission is to provide a vehicle for inner city youth to explore and refine their talents in the areas of acting, dance, music and creative writing through the creation of stage productions that reflect their cultural and historical experiences. The theatre currently presents four plays per season and has forged collaborative relationships with a number of local nonprofits with the objective of developing the theatre’s audience. This grant will support the development of a revised version of one of the theatre’s recent plays, “Graffiti Chronicles”, for traveling performances to up to 20 sites in Flint and Genesee County. This grant will support the production costs of these performances, including stipends for artists and technical support, as well as the cost of set design and transportation.
