About this grant
Intermediary organizations, typically called “capacity-building groups,” exist to help local, state and regional environmental organizations address the many institutional pressures they face. In order to maximize their impact, nearly 30 capacity-building groups in the U.S. and Canada are forming an Environmental Capacity Builders Network. This grant will enable the Institute for Conservation Leadership (ICL), one of the network’s founding member groups, to facilitate the organization of three annual meetings of the network and support related projects between the annual events.Established in 1988 with support from the National Wildlife Federation and the Pew Charitable Trusts, ICL’s mission is “to train and empower volunteer leaders and to build volunteer institutions that protect and conserve the environment.”
