About this grant
Global Greengrants Fund is an international collaborative of environmental donors established in 1993 to strengthen grassroots environmental NGOs by providing small grants to groups in developing countries. This grant increase will expand the capacity of Global Greengrants Fund’s South America Small Grants Program by supporting local communities’ efforts to actively participate in public discussions on regional infrastructure. In addition, the small grants fund will address emerging issues related to energy production, including biofuel production in South America; large dam expansion; and other resource extraction activities that will have major impacts on ecosystems, the natural resource base, and community livelihoods. Activities to be supported through the small grants will be educational meetings as well as strategy and training sessions.
