About this grant
This grant will enable the Global Greengrants Fund to establish a small grants fund for South American community organizations. These small grants will support local communities’ efforts to participate in public discussions on a regional infrastructure initiative for South America, which will be funded by the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and other regional financial institutions. In addition, the small grants fund will address emerging issues related to energy production, including biofuel production in South America; large dam expansion; and other resource extraction activities that will have major impacts on ecosystems, the natural resource base and community livelihoods. Activities to be supported through the small grants will be educational meetings as well as strategy and training sessions.Global Greengrants Fund is an international collaborative of environmental donors established in 1993 to strengthen environmental non-governmental organizations by providing small grants to groups in developing countries.
