About this grant
As the labor market in the Flint area has changed over time, youth who are not college bound face increased difficulty in finding livable wage employment. While high school graduates were once able to find employment in manufacturing plants, they are now faced with few options for entry-level employment that lead to self-sufficiency. This grant to Faith Access to Community Economic Development will provide funds for a planning process that will develop a construction trades training program for youth in the city of Flint. The planning process will engage schools, employers, housing agencies, workforce development organizations and community residents in the planning of enhanced services for youth interested in housing and construction trades.
