About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the development of community schools in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia. The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation will lead a multinational team to refine and disseminate community schools’ self-assessment standards. Local partners will be trained in the application of assessment measures and will assist no fewer than 80 schools in devising and implementing resultant improvement plans. Outcomes will be presented at an international conference and posted on the project Web site. In the earlier phase of the project, the partners produced detailed standards for community schools, which were drawn from the varied experience of Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, and the Czech Republic, as well as the United Kingdom. They also produced and piloted a self-assessment guide for schools and related training manual and a Web site. Established in 1999, the Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation is an independent foundation which seeks to facilitate educational development and innovative educational initiatives in Ukraine.
