About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the development of community schools in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia. The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation will lead a multinational team to further refine and disseminate community schools’ self-assessment standards and practices aimed at improving school performance. Partners in ten countries will be trained in the application of assessment measures and will assist no fewer than 50 additional schools in devising and implementing school improvement plans. Case studies of assessment practice and resulting improvement plans will be developed and presented at an international conference and posted on the project Web site. In 2009-2010, the standards and accompanying self-assessment guide for schools were translated into eight languages and were used by over 80 schools to develop improvement plans. Established in 1999, the Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation is an independent foundation which seeks to facilitate educational development and innovative educational initiatives in Ukraine.
