About this grant
The Association of University Legal Aid Institutions Trust promotes access to justice for poor and marginalized communities through fostering partnerships between legal aid institutions attached to universities in South Africa and community-based advice offices. This grant will provide funding and other forms of support to community-based advice offices to ensure that they effectively provide legal and related services to their respective communities. This will be achieved through regranting to an average of ten advice offices, training and mentoring of paralegals working in advice offices, and providing assistance for the efficient administration of these offices. Attorneys also will provide hands-on support to disadvantaged communities on legal cases, which the paralegals are unable to handle or resolve.
