About this grant

Isandla Institute works to generate knowledge and build partnerships that promote poverty alleviation and human rights in South Africa. It conducts research, facilitates dialogues, disseminates information, and encourages networking on issues related to local governance and democratic and sustainable urban habitats. The grantee coordinates the Good Governance Learning Network, a national network of nonprofits that promotes participatory democracy, people-centered development, and effective local governance. Past support enabled the grantee to host learning seminars for members of the network and publish two "The State of Local Governance" annual reports in 2015 and 2016. This grant will enable the grantee to continue supporting the activities of the Good Governance Learning Network, including coordinating learning events for members, generating knowledge through research, growing membership, and nurturing partnerships with local government.
