About this grant
The program goal is to improve the quality of life in Romanian communities through promoting and developing individual giving, corporate giving, and volunteering. To this end, United Way Romania will expand its corporate donor support base, increase the effectiveness of its fundraising, enlarge its pool of long-term volunteers, and improve the quality and impact of the projects it supports. In addition, the grantee will use highly skilled volunteers to increase the capacity of its staff in Bucharest, Timisoara, and Cluj. Established in 2004, it manages workplace giving campaigns, where funds raised from individual workers are matched by their companies. These funds are distributed to nonprofit organizations promoting social development and providing social services in the areas where the grantee’s offices are located. In 2013-2014, the grantee raised over $1.5 million, which it distributed in small grants. In addition, the grantee established a giving circle for individuals who are able to donate over $10,000 a year and attracted eight members to join this circle.
