About this grant
The program goal is to facilitate efficient information exchange between civic organizations, funders, state authorities, media, and the public in Ukraine. This grant provides institutional development support to strengthen the professional and technological capacity of Ukraine’s most prominent Internet portal for civic initiatives and nonprofit organizations. The portal is an Internet resource that provides a broad spectrum of interactive services designed to raise the effectiveness of Ukrainian nonprofits. These include searchable databases, Web page hosting services, discussion forums, analytical and research materials, nonprofit sector news, and other features. In 2007-2010, the Civic Space portal saw average monthly visitor numbers increase to over 15,000. Web hosting, consulting, and communication services were systematically provided to over 200 organizations. Civic Space was initiated in 2002 as a project of the International Renaissance Foundation. Having registered as an independent organization in 2005, it continues to develop and provide a range of Internet-focused support services to the Ukrainian nonprofit sector.
