About this grant
This grant provides continued support to the attorneys general Oversight and Regulation of Charitable Organizations project of the National State Attorneys General Program at Columbia Law School. The goal of the project is to foster a comprehensive approach by state attorneys general to protecting charitable assets and ensuring their lawful, highest, and best use in the public interest and in the manner their donors intended. Through national conferences, trainings, online materials, and one-on-one consultations, the project has been an educational resource for attorneys general and their staff and has facilitated dialogue with nonprofit practitioners and scholars. Besides a continuation of the above, project activities over the next two years will include research to codify state charities regulation enforcement resources, practices, and outcomes. Columbia Law School is a leading center of legal scholarship at Columbia University, one of the world’s top academic and research institutions.
