About this grant

The Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan launched the New Economy Initiative to speed the transition of southeast Michigan to the new knowledge-based economy. Since its inception in 2007, this philanthropic collaborative has made grants and investments to support economic development infrastructure, innovative enterprises, and educational programs that prepare adults for the new economy. This grant increase will support the initiative’s second phase, which focuses on three key activities: continuing to develop the innovation network; expanding the entrepreneurial culture in the city of Detroit; and developing new ideas and programs to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
