About this grant
Following Ray Murphy’s untimely death in March 2007, Philanthropy Ireland created the Ray Murphy Memorial Lecture Series. Commencing in early 2008, the lecture series will consist of an annual lecture delivered by an international leader in philanthropy. The target audience for the lectures will be key figures in the international and Irish philanthropic communities. Each lecture will be recorded and published on the grantee’s Web site, and at the end of the ten-year lecture series, all lectures will be published as a stand-alone publication. In addition to recognizing Murphy’s role as a pioneer in the philanthropy field, the lecture series is expected to encourage the further development of philanthropy in Ireland through exposure to current trends in international philanthropy. Created in 2003, Philanthropy Ireland is the association of charitable trusts, foundations, and corporations in Ireland.
