About this grant

Faith Action for Community Equity is an institution-based community organization on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The organization was established with the assistance of the Center for Community Change through Mott’s Intermediary Support for Organizing program. The organization has grown steadily and now has a membership base of 25 institutions representing people from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. In 2007, after nearly ten years as an unaffiliated community organization, Faith Action for Community Equity joined the Gamaliel Foundation network. The grantee formerly received Mott support for a project on education improvement. This grant will provide general purposes support as work begins to establish sister organizations on other islands.
