About this grant
MaAfrika Tikkun is an indigenous grantmaker that was started in 1995 by a prominent South African business family to provide support to disadvantaged black communities. It funds community upliftment projects focusing on education and health, especially HIV/AIDS, targeting children, youth, and the aged. It works with community-based organizations that have a history of involvement in their communities, providing training, mentoring, and leadership development. Past support contributed to institutional development and strengthening the grantee as an indigenous grantmaking organization. This grant will continue to support MaAfrika Tikkun to strengthen its institutional capacity and to partner with community groups, other organizations, and government to empower disadvantaged communities.
