About this grant
MaAfrika Tikkun is an indigenous grantmaker that was started in 1995 by a prominent South African business family to provide support to disadvantaged black communities. It funds community upliftment projects, focusing on education and health, especially HIV/AIDS, targeting children, youth, and the aged. The grantee works with community-based organizations that have a history of involvement in their communities, providing training, mentoring, capacity building, and leadership development. It strives to build the leadership, capacity, and sustainability of the community-based organizations enabling them to manage the projects. This grant is aimed at strengthening MaAfrika Tikkun as an indigenous grantmaker enabling it to continue empowering disadvantaged communities with the necessary structures and skills to increasingly look after their own requirements.
