About this grant
As a result of a growing awareness of the need for greater diversity and inclusion within philanthropy, the Council of Michigan Foundations included in its 2001 strategic planning process an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, and encouraged its members to take similar steps. This focus is reflected in a variety of training programs, exploratory task forces, and partnerships that the council has participated in since 2001, as it works toward actualizing its commitment to diversity. The grantee formalized this commitment with a board resolution approved in 2006. This grant will support the council’s current Transforming Philanthropy Through Diversity and Inclusion project, which represents the second five-year phase of its efforts to advance diversity and inclusion with Michigan’s philanthropic sector.
