About this grant

Established in 1956, the Foundation Center’s mission is to connect domestic nonprofits and grantmakers to each other and provide helpful tools and information in order to strengthen the nonprofit sector. The grantee maintains a comprehensive database on grantmakers and operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance philanthropy at every level. This renewal grant will provide support to the grantee for its Diversity in Philanthropy Research Metrics project. The grantee will build upon its extensive base of research conducted over the last grant period to develop a national system of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data on diversity in philanthropy, as well as propose a plan for implementation. Work for the upcoming grant period will focus on collecting comprehensive data on foundation staff and boards in order to better understand the demographics of those working in and governing philanthropic institutions.
