About this grant

The Flint River and its tributaries are an important recreational resource for the region’s residents while also providing important habitat for a variety of freshwater species and other wildlife. The Flint River Watershed Coalition works to protect the Flint River and its tributaries, which includes efforts to correct misconceptions about the river’s generally good and improving health. With renewal support, the grantee will maintain all of its education and outreach efforts as well as attend to its own organizational development needs. This will include efforts to enhance the urban sections of the river in Flint and designate the entire 142-mile stretch of the river as a National Water Trail.
