About this grant
This renewal grant will assist the Genesee Area Focus Fund to publicize and promote two signature summer events in downtown Flint, the Back to the Bricks auto festival, and the Le Champion Pave bicycle race. Since it began in 2005, Back to the Bricks has grown from a one-day to a five-day event, which now attracts 35,000 participants and 450,000 spectators. Le Champion Pave, a professional cycling event launched last year, is expected to attract 350 racers, and 3,000-4,000 spectators. Together, these events help to improve the public perception of Flint as a destination for recreation and leisure.
